Borrowed Brilliance – Unlock Your Full Potential by Embracing a New Era of Leadership!"
EXPLORE STEFANIE’S 2023 keynote for Academic Researchers
The academic world is ripe with potential, yet often bogged down by a culture that limits creativity and stifles innovation.
To retain the brightest minds and keep academia thriving, we must break free from the constraints of the current academic culture and champion autonomy, individualism, and creativity.
By taking ownership of our brilliance and our power, we can transform academia from the inside out.
Borrowed Brilliance is about becoming a leader that you would love to follow, whether you lead a team or are part of one.
The problem is that our leadership style is often shaped by our environment and experiences, based on what we saw key people in our lives doing and our beliefs about success, and our values.
However, how you lead now doesn't have to be how you will lead in the future.
Authentic leaders fosters creativity and innovation, which is essential in academia. By showing up as yourself, you will not only inspire others but also yourself.
Join Stefanie for an inspiring 1-hour talk that will guide you through 7 steps towards unleashing your full potential as a leader, no matter if you lead a team or are part of a team.
Discover who you are as a leader, unlock the potential of those around you, and create high-performing teams that thrive without burning out.
By embracing these unique 7 steps, you can move your team, department, or research center through a transformational journey towards a bright future.

About Dr. Stefanie Robel
I grew up in Berlin, Germany, and completed a PhD in Neuroscience in Munich before permanently relocating to the US to pursue my passion in brain health. My research encompasses the studying of the cellular and molecular mechanisms that cause the slowly progressing but often permanent changes to brain function after mild Traumatic Brain Injury/Concussion.
I became a personal development and leadership nerd during my postdoctoral training, initially to increase my competitiveness for faculty appointments. I started my independent research program in 2016, built a thriving research team, currently composed of 10 full-time members, and brought in more than $6M in funding during my first two years on the tenure track.
My entire world expanded when I discovered that I could apply my research skills to not just the human brain but the potential of the human mind.
With my newfound set of strategies and tools, I was happier. I performed better. I led my team more effectively. As my life became more balanced and my academic success grew, I shared these tools with my team and colleagues and I went even deeper into human potential as I trained as a life coach (in both 2014 and 2018) so I could help other academics achieve similar results.
